When faced with a glass ceiling of limitations, would one stare in contempt of the unattainable or aspire for greatness when faced with the alluring view?

We at Frontline had the privilege and honor of covering Omega X’s ‘No Limit’ tour in Phoenix, Arizona and witnessing the 10 member group (Jaehan, Hwichan, Sebin, Jehyun, Kevin, Yechan, Hangyeom, Taedong, Xen, and Junghoon) attain new heights. We’d like to note and give a special mention to members Hangyeom and Taedong who are currently serving in the military, and Xen and Junghoon who unfortunately could not make the tour. Approaching the concert, I veered from my routine concert preparation and intentionally left myself with little to no knowledge of the set list, the stage design or any information about it, and I am very grateful that I did. It induced the thrill of wonder of the visual and audial craftsmanship being presented and aided the excited revelations as each new song approached, from the full group to the sub-unit performances of members.

As I accustomed myself to the venue and my seat, I was met with the first two rows of fans, all retaining beaming smiles shared towards each other, graciously handing out personally crafted freebies-fan-made items that are given out voluntarily to other fans at concerts and events. Across the seats I could hear different fans exclaim who they were, their bias, and how much Omega X meant to them, with cheers erupting all around them, presenting a warm sense of communion, comfort, and furthering the collective joy everyone was experiencing. It was undoubtedly contagious, as infectious as the genuine excitement, joy, and sincerity that each member possessed of shared gratitude for all fans, carrying an aura of joy within their smiles as they began performing.

Jaehan, Hwichan, Sebin, Jehyun, Kevin, and Yechan opened the show with fan favorites of “BAILA CON OX,” “JUNK FOOD,” and a track from their latest mini album UNCAPPED, “Day Zero,” emerging from the fog with a clear energy that did not relent for the entire evening and had the venue buzzing. You could not help but have immediate attention to the precision and intricate execution of their choreography with beautiful formations, rivaling the mesmerizing vocals that showcased the group’s versatility and ability to blend together physically and sonically.

As the first mention came, the members exclaimed their enthusiasm being back in Phoenix (and one of their loves being ARIZONA tea), and the happiness they felt being able to continue pursuing their passion of meeting fans all over. That passion translated into the fire in their eyes as they began the second half of the concert, with sub-units such as OX:N performing their songs of “DANCE WITH U,” “Cork,” and all the members returning to the stage for an electric cover of Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” chanting along with the crowd. Throughout all of the songs, the members maintained high engagement with the fans, taking phones from the audience to record videos, and always having a quick grin on their face that truly expressed their love for being on the stage and how they were having a blast.

The members led the latter part of the show into a more personalized, sentimental note with “Life Detox,” “ISLAND,” with the members validating and comforting the fans who began crying while singing along to the lyrics, holding their flashlights. Providing light humor that had the fans laughing, the members brought up the heat with “RENEGADE” and “Take’EM ALL,” what truly stood out was the members, beginning with Yechan coming onto the floor off of the stage and dancing and interacting with fans, providing once in a life moments filled with screams and smiles, ending with them spraying water that cooled everyone after an intense movement, and you couldn’t help but shriek in pure delight and exuberance. “Play Dumb” came and went too soon, and as the members left the stage, we were all left out of breath and still chasing for more, a gradual chant of encore invading the space.

An encore unlike any other came, with the members returning to the stage with their own personal phones, sharing their wish to capture the memories of the night as well, and began recording their performance of “Life Detox” again with fans. They exited the stage once more to personally dance and record with fans on the floor going through the rows, and it was an unforgettable memory I and many others shall never forget ourselves. At the very end, the group came together to express the message of NO LIMIT, of their drive, and together, whether it was in joy or pain, release or relief, we all united to let out the biggest scream we could manage, with their wish that no matter the stress or worries in our life, we could let it out together and scream as loud as we could and be right here together. I have never felt such a pulse of emotion released from so many in that experience, and the significance of it shall never be lost.
