“Stressed Out”- The Anthemic Return of Savings On Their Own Accord

The music industry is a heavily marketing-forward field, companies and artists following viral trends, rapidly producing content, and it can start to feel robotic, non manual chasing engagement rather than the love of music. Albuquerque-based alternative/pop-rock group Savings are accustomed to this sentiment, prompting a two year hiatus of reflection, growth, and restructure for the band with a focus on authenticity going against the grain.
That authenticity is encapsulated in their return with their newest single and music video, "Stressed Out," arriving July 23, 2026 after the success of their 2024 How do you feel EP. A reintroduction to the world, to their fans, and to themselves- “Stressed Out” is the reclamation and ownership of their creativity and an exhibition of their versatility. The amalgamation of anthemic alternative rock alongside notes of hip hop and pop hooks, it is the growth and second chapter of Savings redefined built upon the sincerity and vulnerability the band is signified with.

Frontline Magazine has had the honor to interview Savings where they convey a more intimate look into “Stressed Out” and who Savings is now.
The extended hand of knowing souls
The solidity, steadiness of their convictions against societal expectations is what sets Savings apart.
Coming back after two years as a collective, engaging in the pressure of creating content again, and the demand of being musicians can be daunting. How does this comeback differentiate from previous releases in terms of how you guys approach these mental strains, worries that appear?
I think it’s all about intentionality, learning to balance the creative aspect of being in a band, the business side and also our own personal lives. Most importantly knowing our limit and when burnout can be at risk. We gotta take care of ourselves first and the rest will follow suit.
With your upcoming release “Stressed Out,” what was the process like coming into a vulnerable place of trying a new sound of an array of genre influences, while maintaining that originality and sincerity you guys have always shown?
Truly as it is refreshing, we wanted to be as genuine and authentic as we can emotionally, but also try something newer for us as a band in terms of sound. We’re super proud of this one.

As the release engages in the theme of rediscovery and full creative authenticity, how was venturing into different artistic endeavors such as self producing the music video completely in house like?
It was wonderful to be honest. Definitely challenging at times. But we’re extremely grateful to have a camp around us that’s super supportive, creative and encouraging.

Re-definition can coincide with relinquishment or a renewal of past ideals, of dreams that you guys might have discussed when moving forward. How did you guys determine what that line was of who Savings is and who Savings wants to be?
I think honestly yes, this is a redefinition of sorts but it’s also a return to form at the same time. We started this band to help people process emotions the same way we did when we were younger, with a focus on that and being able to freely create regardless of sound; we truly believe the best is yet to come from this band.

The collective key of consistency & going against the grain
In today’s society that does heavily produce a highly oversaturating, overstimulating emphasis on virality at a rapid pace, do you guys feel at odds sometimes between this environment and your principle of not adhering to societal trends but organic growth?
At times for sure yes, but we’re choosing to focus on consistency as opposed to chasing trends. We’re extremely grateful to be where we are and have the fans that we do. We’re just gonna focus on consistency across the board, between music and content.
In comparison to your other releases, “Stressed Out” details different tones, and a more confident version of Savings. With years of experience, how has your mentality to your crafts changed to now?
I think we’ve all grown as individuals over the last two years, and that will show in our music. But regardless we’re approaching it now with intentionality and precision in terms of subject matter. Speaking how we feel and being open to letting a song process our own emotions as a group.
With creative independence and control, how are all of your guys' ideas crafted into a united idea for Savings? Are roles implemented and divided?
More or less yeah but all of us are so willing to help that things get changed but spread out pretty equally! We create a space for all of us to ditch our ideas and always give them a try!
The feeling of being stressed out can manifest into different emotions of anxiety, apathy, anger, and many more that the song beautifully executes presenting. Was deciding how to showcase stress in all of its forms a factor in the production along with the lyrics?
The song itself was written about a stressful situation we all had in New York, which ultimately led to a stressful year for us. We all talked about how we process and feel anxiety and went from there, but we all feel anxiety in different ways which was cool to implement into the song.

With your return and a newfound energy, a new tour, do you guys have any specific goals you want to achieve through “Stressed Out?”
At the end of the day, the obvious answer is to tour more and drive towards more success which is all great. But most importantly, we just want this song to help as much people as it can.
“Stressed Out” feels like an excerpt from the diary of Savings, but also as a warm hug of relation to your fans and listeners who feel the same emotions through life. Is there any message you’d like to share about “Stressed Out” to your fans waiting for the release?
