On Friday, June 12, 2026, the Buckeye Country Superfest Official Pre-Party kicked off a weekend of music with Evan Honer joined by Leon Majcen. Doors opened at 7:00 PM for the all-ages event. An electric warm-up to the stadium-sized festivities at Ohio Stadium, bringing a night of rootsy, country-leaning performances and pre-show excitement.

The Buckeye Country Superfest has been going on since 2015 and is hosted annually at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Each year leading up to the Superfest, Newport Music Hall hosts the Buckeye Country Superfest Pre-Party. This year Nashville-based artist, Leon Majcen performed.

Leon Majcen is a singer-songwriter whose music bridges Americana, folk, and country influences through thoughtful lyrics and memorable melodies. Drawing from classic storytelling traditions, he crafts songs that explore life's triumphs, struggles, and adventures with sincerity, warmth, and a distinctive independent spirit.

When Leon stepped onto the stage there was no gap in time for him captivating the crowd. Between the blend of the guitar, harmonica, vocals, and the band's dynamic, each song was continuously elevated. It was very apparent that his performance drew everyone in and never let go. From the floor to the upper balcony you could walk through and see the connection with the crowd and band. Throughout Leon's set fans were singing along, others danced, and compliments about Leon and the band as a whole could be heard.

While many took photos and videos to remember the occasion, others kept their phones tucked away, focused solely on the stage and the music unfolding before them. In a room crowded with hundreds of individual experiences, the audience was united by a shared appreciation for the music Leon and his band created along with the memories being made together.

About the Artist

Leon Majcen is a modern-day folksinger rooted in the classic tradition of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine. Born in Czechia and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida by Bosnian refugee parents, Leon first found an audience as a teenager when his song “Love and Misery” gained traction on Sirius XM’s The Coffee House, introducing his thoughtful take on American roots music to a nationwide listenership.

A decade of life on the road followed—playing dive bars, house shows, and festival stages—with an acoustic guitar in hand and a fly rod in the trunk. That restless touring life informs Making A Livin’ (Not a Killin’), Leon’s fourth album in five years, which balances solo, folk-leaning songs with full-band arrangements. The record traces themes of departure, heartbreak, and roadside revelations across standout tracks like “Down the Road,” “Sleeping in a Car Is Fun Until You Gotta Pee,” and the closer “Walking Down the Street,” where Leon lets loose into bluesy, amplified territory.

Since settling in Nashville, Tennessee Leon has sharpened his craft, working with producer Pat Lyons and collaborators the likes of Riley Downing (The Deslondes). He’s built a reputation for honest songwriting, warm vocal delivery, and strong acoustic guitar work—qualities that have earned him a loyal following and steady touring life. Previous releases include Back ’Til I’m Gone (2020), Leon Majcen (2024), and Better Days (2025).

Now part of the Cloverdale family, Leon continues to write, record, and chase new horizons onstage and off. Making A Livin’ (Not a Killin’) is both a summation of his journey so far and a signpost for what’s next: more songs, more shows, and more stories from the road.
