"Iconic By Mistake" - music review

Katseye, Le Sserafim and Illit came together to release their new single ‘Iconic By Mistake’ on June 12th, 2026. The lyrics are clearly addressed to their haters and all the criticism they dealt with over the past years. With over 24 million streams on Spotify after only one week the girl groups have not only reached kpop fans all over the world but also people who never heard of kpop before. The heavy, loud and powerful beat makes the song catchy but also its lyrics – which are all in english - and choreography. Therefore you might have already seen someone dancing the choreography. The music video, directed by Cody Critcheloe, is already at 33 million views on Youtube. It combines the styles of all three girl groups. For example, Illit’s part in the music video shows a golden tooth which is similar to their ‘Cherish (My Love)’ music video which was released in 2024.
In total they’re 15 people performing this song – also live on stage. The choreography still gives all the members their own time to shine and makes them look ICONIC on stage.
Katseye is a Los-Angeles based girl group founded by Hybe and Geffen Records in 2024 as a result of The Debut: Dream Academy casting show. Katseye currently consists of 5 members: Sophia, Daniela, Lara, Megan, Yoonchae but also Manon who is still on a hiatus.

Illit is a South Korean girl group under BE:LIFT Lab with 5 members:
Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha. They debuted on March 25th, 2024 and have since then gained lots of popularity.
Le Sserafim is girl group under HYBE and Source Music. The current members are: Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae. They debuted on May 2nd , 2022 and have recently released their 2nd studio album ‘Pureflow’.
