Ren.y.c, an independent artist, exhibits a vulnerable showcase of these emotions in her debut EP It's a Numbers Game — a project cut of the hardened marble of a complexing and difficult period of personal and family changes, changes that affected ren.y.c as a person and as an artist.

ren.y.c is steadfast by design; holding fast to her conviction and creativity through hardship.

The EP is an intimate reference of trials, hardships in your life. During those times, what was the moment, the deciding factor that made you start the project and translate your experiences into your work?

I was going to be recording music regardless and I always talk about what I’m thinking about or feeling in my music so it only made sense.

Is there an intentional order to the song placement on the EP, or certain inspirations for the amount and selection of songs that made it onto the EP?

There actually is, at first it was the order of how much I liked the songs. But then I realized it was in order of telling the story. With half your age being right in the middle.”

Would you be willing to go into more detail on the journey it took for you to find space where you could look back on these memories introspectively from a place of growth?

I’d say using experiences as inspiration, it was actively happening at the time so just talking about what was going on in my life.”

Putting the heart forward and harnessing emotions into art

Starting the project in 2024 and releasing it now, do you think the time period in between was necessary in order to curate the songs and find the courage to release such a vulnerable EP?

Yes, I definitely needed time to get my content, and videos all together. It also gave me time to map out and make exactly what I wanted from the cover art to the videos and getting everything ready.”

Encouragement, motivation, and building momentum off of what’s to come

A message to your past self as well, telling her it’ll all be okay, It's a Numbers Game also provides inspiration and a source of motivation for others to face their pain. Is there a source of inspiration you find to get you through times that may seem difficult?

The inspiration is music. I have so much to talk about, it's great.

The production, the storytelling of the EP is immaculate. Upon It's a Numbers Game, are there different directions in genres you want to explore?

Yes I’ve been doing a lot of pop punk music and enjoying but I really want to try everything. The real ceo of versatility.
