The next big boyband? December 10 sell out Shepherds Bush for 2 nights
December 10 returned to the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London for 2 soldout nights on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July to celebrate the release of their debut EP “On Your Side” and as part of “The Next Step” tour. This review and photos are from night 2 of this stop of the tour in London but I couldn’t stay in the venue after the first 3 songs so I can only review that section of the gig as it was completely sold out.
Before the gig, fans crowded the street to catch a glimpse of the boys and meet them before they entered the venue. Some fans had been queueing since themorning to get barrier so they could get a good view of the gig and try and catch their attention during it. People of all ages were packed into the venue showing how they have captured the attention of a wide range of fans.
There was a DJ to help warm up the crowd with songs from Little Mix to Taylor Swift and more which got huge sing alongs from everyone in the venue. As itgot closer to 8:30PM, the DJ left the stage and everyone waited in anticipation for the boys to hit the stage.
Once it reached the time for them to get on stage, the lights dimmed and screams and cheers erupted from their fans (also nicknamed “Tenners”), I thinkthe screams could’ve been heard down the street if the doors were left open. The band came onto the stage in pitch black with just a few flickering lights behind them to create a dramatic entrance. This led into their rendition of the iconic Backstreet Boys song “Bye Bye Bye” which had the crowd singing almost as loud as the speakers in the venue. The members of the band showed their appreciation of this by doing love heart gestures towards the fans and waving back at people.
After this it was time for their 1st original of the night called “On your Side”which is the title track from their EP that reached number 5 on the UK album charts the same week as this gig. Their popularity has grown a lot since their debut on Simon Cowell’s Netflix show “The Next Act” where he formed this band after lengthy auditions.
Next up was their cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” whichhad one of the members, Josh Olliver, on drums this time. The whole band play a variety of instruments whether it’s the drums, guitar or keyboard they allcome together to make the music that is loved by their fans.
Their popularity is still going very strong and recently announced 2 very special nights at the Hammersmith Apollo in December billed as a birthday party for the band with the date on their actual birthday (December 10th) selling out very quick.
