New Norde Takes On Wally’s
This was my first time seeing New Norde, and they immediately caught my attention. Opening for Soul Asylum at Wally’s in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, on July 29, 2026, the New Hampshire four-piece took the small stage with confidence and delivered a set that felt much bigger than the room. Their two-guitar lineup created a full, layered sound, while the rhythm section kept the performance moving with plenty of energy.
What stood out most was how naturally the band fit into the intimate setting. There was a rawness to the performance that worked perfectly in a small room like Wally’s, letting the energy between the band and the audience feel immediate. By the time they finished, New Norde had made a strong first impression and left me curious to see where they go next.
The biggest challenge was the changing stage lighting in the intimate space: the mix of darker moments and brighter lights required quick adjustments while keeping up with the band’s movement, mostly with my Tamron 70–200mm f/2.8. My favorite shot captured the band with the stage lights behind them, showing both the energy of the set and the atmosphere of seeing a live band in a small venue.
